Anthos is designed it to be software-based and multi-cloud. It's based on open source components and has the extensibility of the open source community. 
The goal of Anthos is to be able to extend access to GCP services into the customer's data centre. This will give customers the ability and extensibility to leverage the broader GCP portfolio, but within the constraints of their own data centre.
